Itinerary

  1. DAY 01: CUSCO - CACHORA - CHIQUISKA

Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the town of Cachora (2,903 m / 9,524 ft) in the Apurímac region (Land of the Gods). During our journey, we will pass through towns like Izcuchaca, Limatambo, and Curawasi (2,688 m / 8,819 ft). Once in the town of Cachora, we will have a hearty lunch before starting our hike. The first part of the hike is slightly flat, and we will reach the Capuliyoq viewpoint (2,995 m / 9,826 ft), where we will admire the breathtaking landscape and get our first glimpse of the Inca city of Choquequirao in the distance. We will then descend to Chiquiska, where we will spend the night near the Apurímac River.

  2. DAY 02: CHIQUISKA - MARAMPATA

This day will be one of the most unforgettable days as we have the longest and most exciting stretch. We will descend a bit to the Rosalina Beach area (1,550 m / 5,085 ft) and cross the Apurímac River (River of the Gods) before ascending to the Santa Rosa village, where you can taste some artisanal brandy at a local distillery. After a short break, we will continue our hike through the lush vegetation, where you can spot orchids, birds, and other native animals. Our second campsite, Marampata (3,000 m / 9,842 ft), is located at the top. After a typical lunch, you will have the afternoon to rest and free time.

  3. DAY 03: MARAMPATA - CHOQUEQUIRAO

Very early in the morning, we will leave our campsite to fulfill our dream of visiting the Golden Cradle, Choquequirao. We will stroll through its plaza, its few streets, water fountains, and terraces adorned with stones from other regions in the shape of Andean camelids like llamas and vicuñas. After an exciting visit, we will start our descent to cross the river at Rosalina Beach (1,550 m / 5,085 ft) and return to Chiquiska, where we will enjoy dinner and spend the night.

  4. DAY 04: CHIQUISKA - CACHORA - CUSCO

Early in the morning, we will have a nourishing breakfast to start the hike back to the town of Cachora. There, we will have a delicious lunch before taking the return bus to the Imperial City of Cusco.
