Our tour begins with hotel pickup between 5:30 to 5:45 a.m. Starting at 6:00 a.m., we will commence the tour. Our first stop is the town of Chinchero, where we can appreciate the extensive crop fields that have been cultivated since ancient times. We travel along the shores of Lake Piuray towards the community of Tauca (3,762 meters above sea level), where our hike begins.
We follow a dirt trail with a gentle slope towards the Pucajasa Pass (4,393 meters above sea level), where we will have a spectacular view of the Urubamba mountain range. This pass is approximately 200 meters long. We start our descent and encounter sections of the Inca trail, as well as radical changes in ecological levels.
We arrive at Huchuy Qosqo (3,688 meters above sea level), where we enjoy our travel snack. After a short descent, we will explore the archaeological complex before descending to the town of Lamay (2,938 meters above sea level). We will then board our transportation to Ollantaytambo, where we will take the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo.
DAY 02: VISIT TO THE MACHU PICCHU CITADEL
After breakfast, we will take the Consettur bus according to the scheduled entrance time to the Machu Picchu Citadel. We will have a guided tour of the site for 2 hours, during which you will learn about the Inca culture and visit the areas designated by the state. It is recommended to choose routes 1, 2, and 3 (subject to availability) and if you intend to visit the Huayna Picchu mountain (advance reservation required, subject to availability and designated by the state), you can explore the mountain on your own.
After coordinating and completing your visit to the Machu Picchu Citadel, we will take the Consettur bus and have lunch in Machu Picchu Pueblo (lunch on your own). In the afternoon, we will board the train at the return station to Ollantaytambo.
